If you’ve never had the joy of eating Burek, classic Balkan, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern savory or sweet pies enrobed in thin layers of phyllo, you’re in for a wonderful treat! Also known as Börek or Bourekas, savory burek are traditionally filled with cheese, spinach and cheese, potatoes or ground meat. Djerdan Spinach & Cheese Burek Pies are “bake-at-home” versions of the delicious burek we serve in restaurants. Our Spinach & Cheese Burek feature a mouthwatering blend of fresh spinach, ricotta, Feta, cream cheese and Bulgarian kashkaval cheese nestled between delicate layers of Phyllo. Seasoned and baked to perfection in the shape of a family-size pizza, each pie serves 4-6 people as an appetizer and 2-3 people as a main dish. Enjoy with a dollop of tzatziki, labneh or Greek yogurt – topped with diced tomatoes, basil and a drizzle of olive oil.
