Nutritious and versatile, bulgur is made with whole wheat that is cleaned, parboiled, dried, ground into particles, and sifted into distinct sizes. Our #1 Fine Traditional Bulgur is the smallest grained bulgur we produce and much faster to cook than rice. Ideal for cold salad preparations like tabbouleh, our fine bulgur is also a wonderful filler for veggie burgers, meatballs and the traditional Levantine fried stuffed meatball dish known as kibbeh. Use fine bulgur to make a delicious warm breakfast cereal: cooked with warm milk, topped with dried or fresh fruit and nuts – and sweetened with brown sugar or maple syrup. Sunnyland Mills #1 Fine Traditional Bulgur is a great ingredient for pilafs, artisanal breads, desserts and soups – in short, for any recipe that otherwise calls for rice. Because bulgur is always parboiled, all that is required for cold salads like tabbouleh is to soak the grains in warm water before using them. To “up” the inherent nutty flavor profile of our fine bulgur for warm preparations, toast it in butter for 5 minutes before adding your cooking liquid. Bulgur wheat is a rich source of fiber, protein and naturally occurring vitamins and minerals, including B vitamins, iron, phosphorus and manganese.
