Our Pearled Wheat is made with U.S. Grade #1 soft white wheat that has been harvested, triple cleaned and processed to remove some of the bran. The result: a nutritious and delicious pearled wheat that requires only 30-45 minutes of cooking time. Sunnyland Mills Pearled Wheat is a perfect culinary ingredient for pilafs, salads, breads, soups, desserts and warm side dishes. With a mild, non-bitter taste, our pearled wheat can also be cooked as you would farro or barley: boiled until the water absorbs into the grains – or pasta style, where you drain the extra water from the pearled wheat. This wonderfully chewy wheat product will add textural variation and heft to mushroom soup, lentil soup, Sicilian Tomato Soup – or soups that would otherwise call for barley or farro. For a delicious satisfying soup on a cold winter day, use Sunnyland Mills Pearled Wheat in a Chickpea and Pearled Wheat Soup with sautéed onions and celery, tomato paste and crushed tomatoes, cooking stock (veggie or chicken) white wine, fresh basil and parsley.
